This section starts with some incredible high alpine scenery as groups float through long pristine pools. For those attentive floaters they can often see deer, eagles, otters, deer and maybe even the occasional moose.
Mid-way through this river trip the whitewater picks up and the rolling waves begin. Everyone in your raft will laugh and scream as the first splashes of water come over the bow and soak everyone, who was probably getting hot anyway. After the last calm pool the river steepens again and the whitewater picks up heading through numerous rapids before the thrilling climax waterfall which plunges paddlers into the final long pool before the takeout.
So if you are looking for a full or 3/4 day river trip and want plenty of whitewater, but not too much whitewater, the Cabarton section of the Payette River is likely exactly what you are looking for.
