All along the road to Selway Falls is a beautiful Class II run. Much of the character present in the famous upper stretch is intact here. In high water this is a fun run for kayakers and rafters. Later in the summer it makes a beautiful canoe run. Bring your bike.
For the many unable to get a Selway permit, here is a chance to experience some road-side boating on the famous Selway River. Even if you are just passing through the area I recommend the 20-mile drive up the Selway to view the Falls. At certain water levels (in the far reaches of your mind) it might be successfully run.
Put in below the Falls or the various other launch points along the river. Take out at the confluence with the Lochsa or continue on down the Middle Fork of the Clearwater for more excellent canoeing type water.
